Singapore-based Delta Commutation has announced the launch of Bitcoin (BTC)/Tether (USDT) futures contracts, allowing users to merchandise BTC futures with USDT collateral, starting on April fourteen at ix:00 a.k. EDT.

Co-ordinate to the company, the industry has seen surging demand for a stable digital currency among fears of an economic recession.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Delta Substitution CEO Pankaj Balani said that, in the concluding 3 months, the commutation saw an increase in demand for USDT settled BTC contracts, stating that "Blackness Thursday" was a major catalyst for increased demand:

"Mail Black Thursday market has become more than take a chance balky and nosotros accept seen a shift in traders' preferences to hold USDT instead of BTC. This becomes increasingly of import in times when the market is not confident of the toll management in the brusk to medium term. Looking at the need and market place conditions we felt that the timing is apt to offer these USDT settled contracts."

The exchange had previously discontinued settled BTC futures trading due to lack of demand, but Balani said things have "inverse a lot" in the past 15 months, adding:

"In spot markets, we saw that USDT became the ascendant pair, starting middle of 2022. We are seeing the same design emerge in the derivatives segment besides."

The battle between BTC/USDT and BTC/USD in terms of volume

With this declaration, Balani expects BTC/USDT volumes to outperform BTC/USD volumes, as more than traders are coming over to cryptocurrency derivatives markets from traditional markets.

Looking ahead, Balani told Cointelegraph that the exchange is working to offer USDT-settled quarterly futures, thank you to the need they have seen from institutional users.
